Purchase Ledger Clerk

The Role:

Due to expansion, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join a dynamic business based in Huntingdon. In this role you will be responsible for processing purchase invoices, matching, batching and coding, supplier statement reconciliation, payment runs and dealing with queries. In the role you will be using Sage Line 50 and Excel.


  • Process invoices, reconciling delivery notes to invoices received and orders for the various departments and materials
  • Release invoices in preparation for payment
  • Interaction with relevant department/supplier in order to resolve queries
  • Proactive query management and resolution for supplier accounts
  • Ensure correct paperwork is received to meet VAT rules and regulations
  • Ensuring accuracy and self-checking of work
  • Stock reconciliation
  • Monthly reconciliation of supplier statements within deadlines
  • Set up new supplier accounts and maintain existing account details
  • Relevant photocopying/filing of invoices when required, ensuring files are maintained in line with current procedure

Person Specification:

  • Minimum 2 years’ invoicing/accounting experience
  • Candidate must be very IT Literate, as they operate a paperless system
  • Experience in purchase ledger/ invoice processing
  • Experience of supplier statement reconciliations
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent telephone manner

Hours and Pay:

  • Monday to Friday - 9 am – 5.30 pm
  • Free parking
  • Pension
  • 23 days holiday going up to 25 with each year of service completed + 8 bank holidays
  • Up to £30,000 DOE
